News | Hagestein Bridge maintenance into second phase

On July 26, 2010 the conservation of the Hagestein Bridge over the river "Lek" near Hagestein, Utrecht has started. Now the project will go into the second phase. The north side of the bridge was done between July 2010 and April 2011. Now the south side will be done between April 2011 and April 2012. In January 2011, the project had to deal with high water, see the pictures of the abrasive silos surrounded by water.         Now the silos and the other equipment have been relocated to the other side of the bridge.   The work is being performed by the Dutch blasting and painting contractor GSB (Gelders Staalstraal- en schildersbedrijf). The surface preparation will be done by means of grit blasting (sandblasting) and the abrasive used is Eurogrit aluminium silicate abrasive (coal slag blasting grit).
